For those getting new Amex's.
I don't know when their policy changed when I got my gold card 9 months ago they told me they didn't report until 2 statements. Which ended up being the case.
But for my BCP it reported after the first statement.
Could be because the gold card was my first ever Amex and the blue was my 2nd. Could be random. Could be charge card reporting times vs revolver. Unsure.

Was the problem specifically with the American Express account, or is there another issue? For example, is there something inaccurate on the credit report, or is the concern simply that it was reported a month earlier than the Gold Card?
There's no problem really. I was just a little confused because I was always under the impression that Amex didn't report until after the 2nd statement so it took me by surprise and I wanted others to be aware of the possibility.
again unsure if they changed their policy recently or it's been this way for a while. All I can tell you is that when I got my gold card it took 2 statements.

I got 4 Amex cards back in mid April (2 charge cards 2 revolvers). All 4 only just reported to my credit for the first now in July.
Every AmEx card my wife and I have ever gotten have taken 3-4 months to start reporting. We have 6 cards between the two of us.

I got my first Amex card 3/8 (BCP) and it reported after the first statement.
Ok so we have multiple people saying it took at least 2 months. And me and 1 other person saying it took only 1 statement.
I wonder what the differentiating factors are in this. Why some and not others ? Or is it just random?

Could there be a relationship tied to whether or not people are paying off the balance before the statement cuts? Just grasping at straws here, but I seem to remember that Amex would not allow payment before statement close on your first account. Not sure what the rules are now.
For me- I was allowed to pay before statement cut on both accounts. In fact as soon as I got the gold I used it to pay rent to help meet the sub. And they immediately required payment since I was close to my internal limit. So not only did they allow the payment, they required it haha.
I thought maybe it was charge card vs revolver? Like charge cards take 2 statements and revolvers take 1?

All of our AmEx cards are revolvers, not charge cards.
