Bad deal with my truck! Need advice

So I bought a 07 Chevy Avalanche 2 years ago. Not knowing much about buying vehicles etc,I was excited my CU would give me a chance with financing with a 450 fico score. Financed $17k @9%.Well Iv been paying on it with perfect payments since I got in it. Well here's the problem. Iv had Allstate insurance to satisfy my lenders insurance requirements since I got the truck. Today I checked with StateFarm financing to refi my loan at a better rate since my credit score is in a better position now. They called my CU to check the title status and low and behold it's a rebuilt salvage title. I was not aware of this. Statefarm denied my refinance app bc of this title status. They told me that she's surprised Allstate gave me Comp/collision insurance bc of the title. I'm like, well Iv been paying their premiums for 2 years and nothing was ever said or mentioned. Isn't it their job and the bank to know this stuff? And then to advise me the pros and cons if any? Well I called Allstate and explained what I had just found out and they immediately called my CU to verify and they told me they are dropping insurance on my truck today. But will keep the State Min requirement so I can legally drive in Texas. My CU hasn't yet called me but I'm worried about what will happen in regards to protecting their asset/investment. Will they put their high priced bank insurance on my truck? Well they force me to sell? Idk what to expect and the only thing I feel is right is to come here and ask. This forum has helped my credit so much and I'm worried I'll get taken advantage of or something. State Farm told me that if my truck was ever damaged or totaled, once my insurance company found out about the title they wouldn't cover the damages bc of the title status? Now the best part. What about my money I've been paying the last 2 years for insurance? $150 month X 24 months. That's allot of money Iv paid and my truck would have never been covered. Do I get that money refunded or credited to me? I desperately need some advice so anyone familiar with Texas consumer protection in this area please chime in! Or any advice to my situation. Thanks

Sounds to me like you need to file a complaint with the Texas AG. I also don't see how you would get your premiums back. I haven't had an accident in almost 40 years and I can't ask my insurance company for one cent of it back. Well, I could but they would just laugh at me.

Don't know that this forum will be much help to you. Google is a good place to start. Texas used car disclosure might be a good search term to start with.
