Baddie Removed but no score jump??

I was victorious on a DV Letter for 1 of the baddies on my report and after a long awaited week that seemed like forever, I checked my Experian report and long behold the Debt is no longer showing but no increase on the score? Kinda bummed about that, Is that normal?

I thought forsure I would see atleast a 10-15 point jump

It depends on a number of factors. How much was the baddie for? Do you have any other baddies? Where did you get your Experian scores from? Those answers should narrow it down.

It depends on a number of factors. How much was the baddie for? $116 Dollars

Do you have any other baddies? 1 More baddie and 2 paid off accounts

Where did you get your Experian scores from? Freecreditreport.com (They are usually good on updating scores tho)

Those answers should narrow it down.

Re: Baddie Removed but no score jump??

You can't just assume that removing 1 derog will net X points.  If the scoring models were that simple and direct we would have easily reverse engineered them all by this point.  Your other derogs are probably holding you back.

Also, freecreditreport.com provides FAKO's so you can't rely on them to determine changes to your FICO's.

Re: Baddie Removed but no score jump??

What was the nature of the derogatory, and how old was it?

User asked a good question too.

FCR.com is giving you a FAKO score, so it's difficult to really guess why their model scored you the way it did. Old collections have less of an impact, so maybe that was it. Also, if you have multiple derogs getting one removed can sometimes have little, if any, effect.

+1. We've seen numerous evidence of either scores staying the same or dropping after an old deragotory is removed. In these cases, the age of the tradeline helps the FICO score more than the deliquent/deragatory status is hurting it. Either way, it's better to have it off. Don't worry about the momentary score change. Good luck!
