Bankruptcy Discharge Date

I had a bankruptcy discharged in Jan 2002.  When I look at my equifax credit report is shows a discharge date of 20/01/03 and a verification date of 20/02/03.  Am I wrong but it looks like they put 20 for the year instead of 02.  Do I need to correct this or not worry about it?  How do I go about correcting it if I need to?

Re: Bankruptcy Discharge Date

I noticed the same thing.  Is that accurate?

Looks like the European way of writing a date.

Re: Bankruptcy Discharge Date

I was wondering if this affects anything.  If BKs drop off in 7 to 10 years then it seems to me they will go by the 20/01/03 and not drop off for years.  It will be six years in Jan since the BK was discharged so it should drop off in a year or two or three.  Should I get this corrected or it okay the way it is?

Re: Bankruptcy Discharge Date

I've been told that (and seen here on this site) that Ch 13 comes off in 7 years, Ch 7 takes 10. If yours is a Ch 7 and your discharge date is in 2002, doesn't that mean that it would come off in 2012? Of course mine was done in 1999 and I know laws change, so I could be wrong. I believe the discharge date has something to do with when the court accepted it and it you were officially released of the responsibility or something like that. I believe it's a month or two after you file.  I noticed it on mine too and thought that was a really weird date. I wish that were the way you read it, cause that would mean mine would come off this month (September) but I'm sure no such luck. Smiley Wink
