Bankruptcy fell off - 780 score now

I've been waiting for Ch 7 BK to fall off this summer, finally did. FICO is now 780 average across all three bureaus. Is there any advantage of having an 800 score?

Congratulations that's awesome!  And no there really is no big advantage to having a 800 score versus your 780, You would still qualify for the best rates.

Thanks! Took a lot of work and patience to get here. 800 I guess wouldn't make much difference at this point. It'll be more for bragging rights!🙂

Congratulations!   This just happened to me as well.   It's like being paroled after 10 years in prison.

As for the FICO score, 780+ is pretty much the level that gets you the very best rates, though there is a new tier for mortgage lending that gives the lowest rates for an 800+ FICO middle mortgage score.

The other benefit to having a higher score is that you can go on the periodic application spree and if you had, in theory, an 850, you could afford to lose 70 points and STILL be at the ultra premium 780 level.   If you lost 50 points from a 780 score, obviously you would be at a 730.

Still, you have done something amazing and have a lot to be proud of!

Congratulations! Glad you have overcome that adversity. It's very much personal about having a score above 800. The scores you posted already had you in the excellent category and denials happen for those with 800 or higher scoress, too.

Congratulations Smiley Happy

No, 780 can get you anything an 800 can get you. 760 is the real launchpad. Once you're there, your credit score won't be a barrier to anything.
