Before 18 years old

I have been trying to delete two credit card accounts from my credit report that were opened before I was 18 years old. A co-worker stole my identity when I was 17 and had phones, apartments, and credit cards in my name Nextcard, MBNA & Capitol One. I only found out because when I turned 18 I got my first apartment and went to turn on my phone and they told me I already had a phone in Florida and I lived in Georgia. I got everything removed except MBNA & Capitol One. Each were deleted from Equifax years ago but continue to report on  TransUnion and Experian. I spoke with both companies and explained and they said I was still old enough to open the accounts. According to my Experian report they will fall off July 08'. Is there anything that can be done before then? Thanks

Re: Before 18 years old

I've been submitting disputes consistantly for the last 3 years. I was unable to obtain a police report because the police said the crime was commited in Florida so the Georgia police wouldn't give me a report and Florida  police would only give me a report if I came in person which I was unable to do.

This happened in 2000, would it be too late?

Nope. But is it worth taking the effort now or waiting a year? Smiley Happy

Re: Before 18 years old

you might also contact your local fbi to file a report, as it appears that the crime may have involved the crossing of state lines or interstate communication by the perp to commit the crime.  just a thought.  sol for the crime may have passed, but at least you may get a report.

Re: Before 18 years old

If i submit the report, how long would it take for the items to be removed? That's what will determine if it is worth the effort now to me. Thanks for all you help.
