Best Buy CC Decline

I applied for a Best Buy card today to take advantage of the no interest for 18 months for a new refrigerator, well came back declined due to "late payments". Yes I had some late payments almost 5 years ago?? Nothing has been late since , nothing, paid off one car bought another with no problem, great rate by the way, have two credit cards paid on time never late, I have to buy a fridg to move into a new place, are all the "no interest" places ( Lowes , Sears, HHGregg and Hope depot) going to give me the same result, this is real frustrating because my scores are just shy of 700. ???

Thanks

Yes....have you asked Best Buy to reconsider?????  Do you have an o/d line on your checking that you can access?

Can you get into Navy Federal CU?????  Those are all options.

Do you have a life insurance policy that pays dividends that you can access?

How about a small personal loan?

Re: Best Buy CC Decline

Best Buy is serviced by HSBC.  I've heard that they have tightened their belts.  I believe Lowe's is serviced by GEMB.  They've been very good to dh...even when his scores were low.

If you can afford the inquiry....shoot for the Lowe's.  You will also get a 10% coupon.  With a near 700 score and baddies FIVE YEARS AGO...I think you'll get the Lowe's.

Thanks fishbjc, my next move was either Lowes or Home Depot, but sheesh they really have put the clamp down, I bet a home loan would be like pulling teeth these days.

Re: Best Buy CC Decline

Yesterday, I decided I wanted a digital camera and found some great deals on Best Buy, so I applied for the HSBC Mastercard first online.  I was denied for a plethora of reasons (serious delinquency in the past 5 years, a bunch of inquiries recently) so I decided to apply for the store card and I was denied because it could not verify my identity.  So, I called and answered some questions and found out that I was denied for the store card but approved for $320 Mastercard with no Annual Fee.  I thought it would be hard to get the store card personally.

I have fair credit with an avg score of 663. (score from CreditInform.com)

Re: Best Buy CC Decline

But I am going to wait and get the camera till I have cash to pay it right off because there is NO financing deal with the MasterCard and I don't want a $150 purchase to multiply to $300 because I can't the balance off and interest is soooooo heavy....

Not sure what site that is, I found a mycreditinform.com.

However, it appears that your score you posted is likely not an actual FICO score, but a FAKO score.

Your FICO may be higher or lower.
