I have an old credit card account that dates back as an charge off since 2003. It still appears on my credit file which contributes to a high revolving percent and is having a negative affect on my score. Now the question is should I write a "pay for delete" letter to the collection agency or to the Original Creditor, Capital One. Since the account is with a collection agency is it to late to write a letter to the OC asking the to accept full or partial payment for removal? Also, the OC sent me accurate documentations about the account in question $2200 past due. What would you advise? Thank You. BossHogg
I would send a PFD to the OC (Capital One) even if they are unlikely to accept it - you may be the one they accept. If they don't agree to the PFD sent it to the CA. Worst case - you may just have to PIF, then at least it won't count towards your revolving debt percentage. Any experts - please feel free to adjust my answer. Let us know how it works out.
