I have 4 (30 day) lates in a row showing up for my BOA cc for April - May of 07. I am in a special repayment program at 0% interest and they are showing the account as open. I set up an entire years worth of auto payments with them starting in 06. In Feb 07 I called to set up the next years worth of payments. According to the BOA rep I spoke to yesterday, the dates were set up wrong and because of this, the payments (although paid three weeks in advance of the actual due date) were not set up properly for the program and caused the acct to show as 30 days late. When I discovered in June of 07 that these were on my CR, I called and made a double payment to correct this. They of course at the time did not own up to the issue and the rep yesterday told me that it was their error that caused this issue. If the payment isn't set up for the 6th or prior of every month, the billing cycle won't show correctly.
My question is this. Because the account is showing as open in error (to my benefit), is it better to leave the lates on the report or take the chance of a GW letter to try and get the lates removed and hope they don't chg the acct status to closed?
I only have one open cc on my report so I am wondering if the points gained from removal will outway the chg in acct status if they discover the error.
