Bogus CO becomes current after 6 years?

Long story short, a disputed charge on an old CC with Providian over 6 years ago that I refused to pay lead to them charging it off despite proof showing it was bogus. Anyways, I disputed it with all the credit bureaus back then, experian removed, TU and EQ left it on. On my reports it was showing it as charged off and the account closed, now it showed the account being 120+ from November 08 until now. Credit Secure also now shows it as a KD instead of the old (no history).

How does this happen when I did nothing to make it pop up again? I figured it would be off my report next year anyways, so no longer worth arguing over. Also, the change caused an immediate drop in my EQ score by 51 points.

Someone help/shed some light?

If no letters were sent, disputes made, etc., then something would have happened within Chase/WAMU/Providian to cause this update to occur. Maybe they were going to sell the account or maybe they updated their own records.

Baddies fall off 7 yrs from DOFD, so you should be coming up on that pretty soon.
