CA DV shenanigans

Before I knew better, I disputed a med collection account as "not mine" through the CRAs online. Then, I called the CA directly to inquire about the account and find out more info. They happily told me the name (not mine) and SSN (not mine) on the account, along with the address (an old one of mine). So I let them know this was definitely not mine & I was disputing it. Duh. Then, I found myfico.

In the meantime, although I had disputed it with the CRAs, I went ahead w/ the DV form letter to do it the RIGHT way. That letter was mailed CMRRR on 17 Mar & received by the CRA 25 Mar. Last week, the dispute w/ the CRAs came back as resolved, and instead of being deleted, was "updated." Guess what the CA did? They changed the "Responsibility" section from showing "INDIVIDUAL" to "CO-SIGNER." Now how sneaky is THAT?!

Now it looks like I'll have to prove that I didn't cosign to be responsible for a complete stranger's medical debt. I'm just hoping like heck they don't validate... just 10 more days til the 30-day mark, and I'm nervous about the mail every day... if they're willing to be that underhanded, I just don't know what to expect next.

I'm thinking of asking for a DV of all my other paid (there were two others that were mine) debts w/ them, so I can compare signatures in case they stole my sig from another doc and tried to put it on this one to support their "cosigner" claim...

Re: CA DV shenanigans

Never heard of co-signer for medical.

If you know date of service and provider, call them.
