I'm sure this has probably been asked but:
HSBC Best Buy and LVNV(collection account for best buy) both report balances on the same debt.
Shouldn't best buy be reporting a balance of $0 ??
If yes how do I address this?
Depends if they sold it or just assigned it to the CA. Does it say under the Best Buy that it has been sold?
If not then they can both report the balance as Best Buy will still own it. If that's the case and you can afford to then I would PIF to Best Buy (should result in LVNV coming off your report, Best Buy will stay on there with whatever negatives are associated with it and you can then try and GW them)
under best buy status it says "charged off as bad debt"
I'm sure its the status that's important here right?
and since it says charged off, does that mean the balance should be $0
it shows 0 days late and worst delinquency: none reported
the amount past due reads $0
but the balance reads $2519
An OC and one CA can report on the same account. If the OC sold the account it must show a 0 balance. If they just assigned it to the CA, both the OC and the CA can show a balance.
It does not matter whether it is CO'd or not. If the OC owns the account they are allowed to show the balance.
So since they both show balances, should I assume that the OC still owns the account?
I don't see any indication that the account was sold but I have no idea where to look for that.
