CBCS CA

I recieved a letter in the mail, CBCS is trying to collect a debt for Midland Credit Management.  I am not sure if the had bought the account, or if they are trying to collect the debt for Midland.  It is not showing up on my credit reports yet.  They are offering a settlement, should I pay before they start reporting?  Could they report after I pay?  And if I pay CBCS should Miland be deleted since they sold the account?  Please help as I want to get a new mortgage and do not want a new collection account to start reporting on my report.

Re: CBCS CA

The date Midland would fall of is 12/2009, the debt is for an old MCI account.  I sent CBCS a DV however I did not do this CMRR my mistake, my concern is that currently all of my baddies are over 5 1/2 years old.  If I understand correctly the CA can still report even if you DV them, I want to make sure this doesn't show up as a new collection and hurt my chances for a mortgage.

Re: CBCS CA

Okay I have a little more information on this account.  I called Midland to confirm whether or not they still owned the account (only because I was ready to pay).  They stated that they still owned the account, however CBCS was servicing it and gave me a number to contact CBCS.  Does this mean that CBCS cannot report since they do not own the account?  I am really trying to prevent any new collection accounts from appearing on my account while in the mortgage process.  Also, if I want to PFD should I sent to CBCS?
