Re: CC issue Help

BTW, congrats on the upcoming arrival in December!

A last comment.  Brammy's advice is good and I should have advised you that yes, send the GW letter ASAP while you are making min payments just to say you tried.  Keep making min payments a few months (if paying interest is OK) so that it appears to them you can't pay the balance easily.

If they won't GW your acct to 'closed by consumer' and delete all the lates/derogs... offer 50% of the balance with a PFD.  Again, if they don't accept that... increase the offer... even to full balance if you just want the best chances and to get this over with for you.

I was just wanting to stress in my previous post not to count your chickens on a GW either now or once the balance is PIF and I should have explained that better.

Re: CC issue Help

Thanks for the Decemeber Kid.  1 thing i dont understand is that a credit card can bring you down 100 points, that is crazy!.  My credit has been flawless in the last 6.5 years and the only 2 things are coming off pretty soon.  I have 5 cars paid off with no late payments within 7 years.  i have 2 current loans on cars as we speak and never been late.  I  have 1 credit card ( in the post we talk about) with that bad stuff and my FICO score stinks.  Since i have been on this post i have seen many people that are in trouble with their credit and they still have better credit than i do. I do have 1 thing on my credit that was a judgement and it comes off in 08.  Medical bills sent to creditor and then to judgment.  Kinda stinks but my credit doesnt look bad when it is pulled but i still have low scores.  Thanks for all the post and all the help that was given.  This forum is great for people that want to fix and to get away from all the scams.  Once again thanks to all that put their comments in here to help people out. You are the best.

thanks,
SD

Re: CC issue Help

The people here are great, I've learned so much myself and don't know what I would do without this board.  Stick around and read read read, you'll get your credit together faster than you can imagine right now.

Not having any credit cards brings your score down hard in and of itself, so with the Cap1 issue that was a double bad ding.  If your wife has good credit you might want her to put you on her cards as an authorized user.  That will only bring your score up with 2 CBRs, and then only till some time in 2008 when that ends across the board.

I don't know what your scores are now or what you might be approved for but you might want to do a search here for threads on the Bank of America (BOA) 99/500 card.  You need to apply for a card you can get approved for now or in the near future.

This too shall pass, as they say.  Smiley Happy

Re: CC issue Help

Good morning,

I used to be a Cap One card holder (Credit is much better so closed it due to an AF) and although i never went past due as long as you have, i did have a late payment erased from my credit report.  I went back through my history and found an old post i had about calling Cap One and how they erased the late payment from my account and they called the CRAs for me.  It also has someone repling on the post how they had a 120 late payment and they called the same number and the Cap One representative erased their late payments as well.

As for a GW.  Here is one that i was going to send out but never did due to the phone call working for me.  It already has the correct mailing address for Cap One in the letter.

let me know how it goes, and please check out the link!

To Whom It May Concern,

I have been a Capital One customer since Month/Year and during that time I have enjoyed my experience with Capital One greatly.  I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a goodwill adjustment to your reporting to the three credit bureaus.  I have late payments recorded on my credit reports for Month/Year on the above referenced account.  Since that time I have been an exceptional customer paying every month on time.

Because of my exceptional payment history over the last YEARS or MONTHS, I would like you to consider removing the negative payment from my credit report.  At the time of the late payments, I was EXCUSE HERE.  I say that not to justify why the payment was late, but rather to show that the late payment is not a good indicator of my actual credit worthiness.  I hope that Capital One is willing to work with me on erasing this mark from my credit reports.

I have been a very happy customer in the past and hope to continue a long relationship with Capital One.  With today’s credit industry so competitive, I know how important it is to maintain good relationships with customers.  Capital One has been exceptional in my book so far and I highly recommend it to all my friends and relatives.  I hope that you will deeply consider my request and prove once again, why Capital One is heads above the rest.  I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,

Re: CC issue Help

Nice post Robo.  Good to hear about the GW, especially with them!  I want to point out the way you were able to get your 30 day late removed... sometimes it's just easiest to at least try a phone call first and not go thru any real hassle.  Glad it worked!

Excellent GW Robo! Thanks. I've printed it and it's in my (growing) file folder. Good to have!
