CC's,Collections and a threat to my FICO

I received a call in March from a collection agency saying I had not made payment on my Home Depot card

since May 2005. The lady said if we paid at the time of her all the $317.16 could be lowered to 250.00. Citibank

was the bank carrying the card for Home Depot. I stated several times we pay our bills and could I be told what

the bill was for and how much it was for. I did not nor did my husband get this information! Now it baffles me why

I could not be told start what the said charge was and for what. I am not saying this charge is at this point is not

ours. They have been sent a certified/registered letter stating until we know the amount and what the charge is for we are not paying. Should we pay first and ask questions later? I don't think so! I talked with Citi once, turns out yes the last payment was made in 2005 because that was the last debt incurred. I think but not sure the

charge is for $87.11 and it happen in August. But you see we moved in July of 2008. So since neither my husband nor I remember using the card. we just want to confirm where the charge was made and for waht.

You see no bill never made it s way to us. WE pay our bills. But we could have missed this one moving is a

confusing time. So nearly 4 weeks later we still have not received the requested statement I was told would

come in 7-14 days, yes they have the wrritten request for it. I recived acknowledgement today but no promises

of when  I'd get the info. But they did threaten my FICo score through this company and citibank themselves. If they haven't already turn me in. Any advise, should we pay before we know what it's for?

Re: CC's,Collections and a threat to my FICO

Were you living in Tx when you applied & received this CC?   If so the Tx. SOL is 4 years

You need to pull your CR from all 3 CBs so that you know who and what is reporting!!!

You can pull one CR from each CB free every year
