CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

In case anyone was wondering it appears CreditCheck Total will not work, I repeat, will NOT work if you have a credit freeze with the bureaus. I have a credit freeze with all three bureaus and recieved this message from creditchecktotal.com, "We're sorry: we have encountered an internal system error. Please note that your order has been cancled. Your credit card has not been charged. Sorry about the inconvenience."

**I was charged $1.00 however assuming it will not post.

**The security questions they asked me in order to verify my account had no correct answers which leads me to believe they could not pull my report.

**Still worth trying, let me know if you get different results.

I did however sign up for creditscore.com immediately after and it DID work. I had access to the free Experian monitoring tool prior to freezing all of my accounts. Upon applying for creditscore.com my current Experian profile was recognized and the free Experian product which includes FICO 8 was added to my account.

**I have previous experiences whereby accounts that had access to my profile prior to the freeze have continued ability/access to do soft pulls however new companies are unable to preform the soft pull.

With all this said, I may try to see what products can give me Transunion and Equifax FICO 8 scores reasonably priced that fall within my already approved companies. For example, wondering if the Experian product which does allow upgraded access to FICO 8 from Transunion and Equifax would work considering it is working for Experian reports.

I'll update whatever I discover in case it may help someone else.

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

I tried CCT again just to make sure I made no mistakes. Here was the error I recieved, "Experian.com is committed to protecting your personal information. We utilize a thorough identity verification system because your security is important to us. Unfortunately, we have not been able to properly identify you from the information you provided. Please note that your order has been cancelled. Your credit card has not been charged."

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

I don't know anything about freezing reports, as I never have with mine, but couldn't you unfreeze them to do your CCT $1 pull and then refreeze them immediately after?

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

Yes but it costs $10 per bureau (except EQ) to temporarily lift or permanently remove a freeze. Equifax is currently temporarily free since its data breach debacle but normally is $10 as well.

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

I have all three locked and no problems, I believe your issue is related to the security verification questions, especially with the fact that you had prior relationship with Experian before the freeze.

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

Do you have them “locked” or “frozen?” There is a big difference. Lookup credit freeze vs credit lock.

The second time I tried it did not even offer security verification questions. My social and personal info alone immediately flagged an error.

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

I'm aware of the differences but new institutions not being able to SP is the same, I had to unlock my TU few months ago for a new CU to SP, this shouldn't be a problem for you with CCT because you had prior relationship with Experian, as did I. At this point I would call and find out, they should be able to tell you if freeze is the issue.

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

I appreciate your persistence. I just tried for a third time (now three pending $1.00 charges show on my credit card) just so I was 101% positive. It does NOT work for me.

If your reports are truly frozen and not "locked" and you managed to get the reports from CCT you may have been one of the lucky ones. I have been told by the Burueas AND myFICO product team that on rare occasions in spite of a credit freeze the soft pull can go through.

Re: CCT (CreditCheck Total) AND Credit Freeze

I called. Yes, freeze was the issue. Experian was able to provide their own FICO but not able to pull from TU or EQ because of the freeze. Also, they are offering identity works premium free subscription for 30 days. Could not sign up for it anyways becasue of the freeze. If I go directly to TU or EQ and use a free trial of their products I should be able to get the FICO scores.
