Re: CHARGED OFF DEBTS

Hi SMT

I had the bad luck of once upon a time consolidating bills with a shady company that eventually got busted. well during that time my accounts were not getting paid and in my credit rage i said screw it i am not paying a penny to anyone else. needless to say my credit score back in those days was probably 009-010-and if lucky 012...(exaggerating)

anyhow, a lot of my accounts wound up being charged off and in collections. i didnt answer to a single collector or gave in to their scare letters. about 7.5 years later i got into fixing my credit life up and disputed the existence of these charge offs. well to my surprise none could be contacted and therefore simply fell off of my reports. sending my scores into the 700's. and i guess thats what they mean by giving it time. i did my disputing while paying for the services of free credit report dot com. i simply disputed saying that the age of the account was over 7 yrs of age to please remove and within a few weeks they complied and removed them all. not a one lingers and only some very minor baddies are around in good standing accounts.

i am not telling you to do what i did im just sharing with you what happened to me over the last 11 plus years... (length of my credit history)

i am sure some of the more savvy people on the forum can guide you into having peace of mind much like i have received from finding this forum and doing a little self education.

Re: CHARGED OFF DEBTS

You just sent a letter telling them that they were older than 7 years and they deleted them?

My situation is that I have some old ones that have gone to collections.  Do I need to dispute it with the OC and then CA?  Once it is removed from the OC and then it should be removed form the CA.

Is there sample letter for this on here? Are there any good lines that anyone would recomend placing in the letter?
