CLOSED ASPIRE = 4pt INCREASE

Aspire is now reporting their closed accounts to the credit bureaus.  I was concerned as to what they would report when closing the accounts.  My closed Aspire account just reported and I received a FICO alert from EQ saying the following:

Account closed at consumer's request
Closed or Paid Account/Zero Balance

My score jumped 4 pts! AMAZING. didnt know closed accounts result in a score jump.  My account was already at zero balance months ago...

Did anyone else have the same result?

Re: CLOSED ASPIRE = 4pt INCREASE

The closure of Aspire likely didn't increase your score. Rather, it was some other event that did it. SW doesn't pick up every single action that causes a score change. It could have been lower utilization (assuming the loss of Aspire didn't hurt), account anniversary, etc.

I keep all of my SW alerts. My favorite one was for a 20 points increase. Why? Because I had one new inquiry. Now we know that the inquiry didn't caused that, but it was a removal of a baddie that did it.

Congrats on the loss of Aspire! (Unless you're upset about it. Then, I'm sorry for the loss of your Aspire!). Smiley Happy
