CR personal statement....is it worth it?

i am debating to insrt a personal statement on my EX CR...is it worth doing?

has anyone inserted a statement and have any feedback (pro/con) on how this is viewed by lenders/employers etc?

somehow i feel that if i insert a statement i would come off as a MR SMARTYPANTS, and a troublemaker....

what do you think?

Re: CR personal statement....is it worth it?

What exactly do you want to say in your personal statement?  I put one in my Experian credit report when I was having trouble removing a fraudulent charge off account from my record.  Ex has finally figured out that the account wasn't mine and it's no longer on my report, but the personal statement persists.

My understanding is that if you put in a statement, you can't remove it.  So be careful about what you say.

Re: CR personal statement....is it worth it?

thanks lel, thats good to know, i am wondering if anyone else can confirm that.  but, it sounds like a strange rule..Smiley Surprised

4 years ago I consolidated what I thought was ALL (17) of my student loans with Nelnet.  Somehow TWO loans were left OUT of the consolidation and wound up going into collection...(idid not know)

as of today one is PAID, and the other i am making payments and is current but, they report negatively with EX (only) and I was thinking about adding a statement..

I put one one mine a year ago, then req it be removed after about 4 months. They removed it right away. (All three, no less!)

Just like disputes and such...luck of the draw with all or any of them!

All a personal statement will do it force a manual review on your account when applying for credit.

Re: CR personal statement....is it worth it?

personal statments can be removed and usually you can have the option of an account specific comment, rather than a statement. especially with experian.

example, when you dispute online...you can choose statements specific to that account like:

"payments were made in compliance with the negotiated schedule"

Re: CR personal statement....is it worth it?

I know this is an older thread, but I am seriously considering inserting a personal statement due to the fact that i was denied DISCOVER,  and B of A CLI.

I am sure it is due to the student loan issues, discussed earlier in this thread.

Has anyone had any recent feedback on inserting/removing personal statement EX CR?

thanks

I'm not sure what good would come of this.  If anything, it draws attention to the fact that other creditors have not seen fit to extend you more credit.
