Can someone explain to me this please!

So apparently I was able to remove a huge collection from Verizon Wireless. The balance was $3300 and t's from 2019 so It would have stayed a long time on my credit thanks, God. I don't know how credit scores are generated but my assumption was that collection will result in almost 70 point increase because not only it was a huge balance but it was also a relatively new collection. Also, they were reporting monthly basis. Now while Transunion deleted this account they also deleted my 11 years positive store credit card from Walmart. it was an old account so they removed both that account and the collection at the same time.

Interestingly my score went down by one point! I was expecting at least 50 points or more increase but I got 1 points reduction.I'm wondering what happen?

Removing good standing old account and new collection should not cancel each other out especially when I have other 13 years old accounts on my credit so can someone help me here? I also checked both fico and vantage scores so 1 point decrees on TransUnionver.jpg scores.

All accounts that are on your credit report will count, This includes both open & closed trade lines. So when an account or accounts is deleted the average age of all accounts combined together has been reduced. For example, let's say the average account age was 13 years. Now with the two accounts being removed from your credit profile, the new average age is 9 years, then you have lost an average of 4 years.

Re: Can someone explain to me this please!

So basically you're saying that 2 years old collection was helping your score? No way man, that's not the case something else is probably going on. The entire AAoA thing is only 15% of the scores and I still have at least 7 old accounts so removing one old account might have dropped couple points but removing This huge derogatory should improve my credit. June 14 2019 I lost 54 points because of this collection and it's the only collection I have on credit so this should improve my scores.

@KCC100 you should provide more details about your profile before and after the removal. If you want someone on here to assist. Or you can do a line by line comparison yourself-you've gotta figure out exactly what changed. For me- that sounds strange that you lost 1 point, but I don't know the rest of your profile. You mentioned having other 13 year old accounts. What about other late payments? How many inquiries? More info please.

How much did your FICO score change? The 1 point change on your CreditKarma VS3.0 score is not comparable to the change you should expect on FICO scores. VS3.0 scores are known to be very volatile and often do not react as expected.

I did a comparison line by line, I put the two reports side by side and I will in fact attach it here so you could see it yourself, the only difference between the two reports is that the last report doesn't have the only collection that I had and also they removed one old closed I account from 11 years ago which should not impact my credit at all because I have other old accounts.3XjThS8WJE.jpgMEF0tA4Ghs.png

Hey,  Myfico dropped 2 points and my vantage score dropped 1 point. I saw Two alerts, One said old account removed and the other one said collection account removed.

Credit karma doesn't calculate AAoA like Fico. VantageScore doesn't count closed cards. On top of that, the monitoring websites only go back 4 years vs 7.

Do you have other derogatories? You don't get a huge jump unless all of them are gone and you have a completely clean report.
