Hi Everyone,
I just asked to be removed as an AU from my mom's Cap1 QS because of 85% UTIL. The account was only 1.2 years old, so the AAoA boost wasn't too significant anyways and the CL isn't particularly high. The utilization is really the factor here that's dragging down my scores.
I had a question for those who have been removed from Cap1 AU accounts: does the AU account stay on your report as closed or is it removed entirely? Would of course love for the age and positive payment history to remain, but it is not a deal breaker like the UTIL. If so, what are the remarks for the reason for the account being closed?
Let me know!
Thanks,
Matthew

If the CRAs follow thru on the removal, the account will be removed. While nice in theory, you can't get the benefit of account history but not receive the hit for utilization.

So as long as I don't call up each CB to have it removed, it will stay there as open and just won't be updated? I am fine with that as long as the balance isn't factored in anymore.
Irish, what you're saying is that the CBs should follow through and remove it entirely, instead of this limbo state chuck is saying? How often does this happen that it is removed entirely versus this other open, but not" state? Anyone with DPs from Cap1 with an AU removal?

I've never done it with CapOne. I've only removed myself as an AU on a Chase account and I had to dispute with two of the CRAs to get it removed and they removed it completely once the dispute was completed. Don't assume that the balance won't be factored into your utilization if you asked to be removed and it's still on your reports. The balance on my AU account did factor into my utilization for several months after I asked to be removed until I disputed the account. Either way you won't get the good parts of an AU account and not the bad ones if it remains on your reports.
Here's what ended up happening after I was removed and the last statement cut:
Let's hope it still wants to stay on my TU after time goes by.
