Capital 1 Stepping Up...Free TU Score!!

Thought I'd share....I logged in to pay my bill and was surprised to see they now offer a free TU score tracker. I have only had good experiences with Cap1 and have to give a fist bump and thumbs up to keeping up with the joneses.

Not to burst your bubble but its out on mobile app already, and its basically the same thing as you get for free through credit karma. Looks like its not an fico score , so its good for monitoring but thats about it.

Thanks but my bubble is still intact :-) I'm aware that it's not a Fico but thought I would note and give them credit, no pun intended, for the new product offering. Guess I missed it on my mobile app when I logged in.

Yeah i guess its nice they give you the product for free :-) It would be nice if they would provide an experian version of an fico score. Those seem hard to come by :-)

Re: Capital 1 Stepping Up...Free TU Score!!

As mentioned this is a transrisk score (same exact score literally as on credit karma). But, it definitely can be something that proves helpful - however just not something to be using as a real guideline since it is a FAKO of course.

Hey...take it easy...those FAKO's are still in my wallet for at least another 8 months.   One good thing I have noticed about Cap1 is they're pretty good at takin care of bogus charges.

I think it is a Fako because it matched my CK-TU exactly. But It does have a 300-850 scale. I was under the impression that only Fico use the 300-850. But on my Capital one Transunion it does not say Fico anywhere. But it has that misleading scale. It is not a Fico right?. At any rate I have a Barclays account that I get the TU-08 and it is 29 or more points higher than the TU-98 that I purchase here. I probably will just start waiting for my free Fico score.

Starting Score: TU 572,EX-578,EQ-539 1-1-2014
Current Score: TU98-591, EQ-582, EX-595 (1-17-2014)
Goal Score= EQ- 760, TU- 760 EX- 760
Goal Score: 750

Re: Capital 1 Stepping Up...Free TU Score!!

Good news!  My TU Fako Credit Tracker Score is up to 740!  It's only 26 points away from my Fico score.

From the T&C: "Unlike the credit scores used by businesses, your Credit Tracker score is intended for consumer informational purposes only." haha

Sort of like the old machines in bars selling glow-in-the-dark lates accessories "for novelty use only."

Funny that they auto pull a FICO every quarter, but decided to use this instead.  At least it's free.

Re: Capital 1 Stepping Up...Free TU Score!!

Sucks to hear that it's a FAKO score and not an actual FICO. Regardless, I think it's still a step in the right direction -- especially since a lot of folks trying to rebuild credit go to Cap1 for their offerings, I think any type of score will be helpful for them. For that demographic, I think they'd be best served by seeing that upward trend and knowing they're (generally) making the right credit decisions. The score itself isn't entirely relevant, though I'm sure we can all agree that it's a step down from Disc/Barclays adding actual scores.
