CapitalOne contact for fees interest conversions etc.

I have a name and mailing address of a Capital One Retention Group Manager if anyone was not able to get good customer service with repetitive phone calls.

DH got a written confirmation regarding his annual fee waiver with Cap1, and this information was on it.  The person did shoot him down for a conversion with his particular card but he was in a time crunch and needs to resume that when he is able.

They will credit the annual fee if it was within the past 90 days, delete it if it is on the current bill, or waive the upcoming year if the charge was older than 90 days.  Account must be in good standing, not over limit or 30+ days past due.   This is not a promotion or an account change, just customer satisfaction for those of us who can get other cards and better fees and are threatening to cancel etc. unless Cap1 wants our business and is willing to not make us pay for what we can get free elsewhere KWIM?

Being that this is a public forum, I'm choosing not to post it (and please honor that) but will provide it PM if you have been unsuccessful with phone calls and are taking it to snail mail.

***If you have worked up to speaking with a supervisor and it is still getting you anywhere please PM me if you want this contact/address***

Ok I have a Cap1 card and recently had my interest rates lowered. I wanted them to switch me to a card with no annual fee but they couldn't without me opening a new one to which I didn't want to do. Should I call them and request a membership fee waiver. Mine just renewed this month so maybe they can waive it..what do you think? I have no late payments and have had the card for two years.

Re: CapitalOne contact for fees interest conversions etc.

I have not heard of anyone being able to convert from a fee based card to a non fee based card.  However, I have been reading on here that someone can open a new CC and then have them combined.

I am not sure if this shows up as just 1 TL on your CR, but if it does this might be a way around it.  Heck, it will only cost an inquiry (well, 1 on each CR), but that will fall off within a year.

Once my deal clears up with Cap 1, I am thinking of doing this.  Anyone see a flaw in my thinking?

I am going to try having the fee waived. Actually I am on the phone with them as I type (on Hold of course) I didn't want another hit on my TL so didn't want to go that route.

Re: CapitalOne contact for fees interest conversions etc.

John, I LOVE your picture! And it rings so true!

Back to topic: I have 3 Cap1 cards(or had). 2 Visa's and 1 MC. I called Cap1's back door acct. specialist number. Very helpful. They told me I can combine the 2 Visa's, including credit limits. As they were 6 & 7 years old, they said they would also waive the annual fee on the remaining 2 cards(the monthly $5 or $6 participation fee remains. bummer).

In addition, since it had been so long since my last cli, they gave me $500 each on the 2 cards. Plus they told me to call back in Nov, for a rate reduction(they offered either cli, or rate reduction, but not both in same month).

Bottom line: Visa: $3,200 CL; MC: $2,000. I'm pleased. Next month rate decrease(I had several baddies from last year and before that put me at the 29.34% default rate)
