It was time to upgrade phones. The account is in my wife's name. To do the usual buy the phone over 24 months at 0% you have to basically apply for it. We were doing it through the Apple Store for T-Mobile who uses Citizens bank.
My wife's info and SSN went into the online app since her name is on the 20 year old account. It was denied because they could not verify her identity. We just bought it outright instead.
Today I have a credit alert. I got the hard pull!!! No idea how they ran my credit on her SSN and app unless T-Mobile has some of my info still on their backend. Not happy, but it's my only EQ inquiry at least.
I think I'd get a hold of citizens. If they don't respond to your not applying for anything, go ahead and accuse them of fraud. Banks hate that. I got both Chase and wells to remove hps that way.

if you have t-mobile and use the major network, consider financing phones with them in the future to avoid all this, should be a SP to finance through them no problem
