Chase SWA Card no longer reporting?

Hi all. For the past few months I have seen that one of my cards (Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards) has stopped reporting. It shows $0 balance and status unknown. Even more so, it seem to not be calculating in my utilization. While from what I can see, this had a good impact on my scores, this card has been carrying a balance for almost 2 years that I've been paying on. I want to pay it off with tax refund money, however I'm unsure it will have any impact on my score. I wonder if I would be better served to pay off one of the cards that is reporting?

I just don't want them to all of a sudden report again, and things jump out of kilter. Anyone have any experience with this?

My suggestion with your tax refund would be to use it towards a card balance with the highest interest.  I don't think you should focus on whatever is best for your score.  Others may chime in with more "official" advice, but that's how I would approach it.

Re: Chase SWA Card no longer reporting?

The FCBA permits a creditor from not making monthly reporting or sending billing if there is no activity or balance.

Inactive accounts can be discontinued from scoring, and more importantly, the creditor could choose at any time to close the account, or even close and delete the entire account, which will totally remove it from use and scoring.

What is confusing in the post is that it is stated that the account is currently showing a $0 balance, however it is later stated that advise it wanted on the impact of paying off the account.  If you still owe a balance and the creditor is reporting $0, that indicates that the creditor has sold the debt to another.

Do you have any info on whether they have sold the debt, such as to a factoring company, in order to receive whatever you currently owe on the account receivable it is carrying?

ETX... This card coincidentally happens to be the one with the highest rate, at 16.24%.

I haven't received any notice that the account has been sold off. It has been in good standing since I opened it up. Even now that I am currnently paying on it (interest + $100) every month to relieve the balance, I do keep a $5 recurring monthly charge for apartment insurance. This is just to keep some activity on the card so that it is not dormant. It is certainly still open and the card is still able to be used. The payments I make are all done through the Chase website where I can see all the account info as I always have.
