Chase Total Checking Account - was I approved??

Hello! I hope you guys can help me. I'm a little confused over Chase's process for opening new checking accts.

I received (well, it wasn't exactly addressed to ME) one of those offers from Chase Bank to open a new Total Checking Account, deposit $100 of new money within 60 days, and in return they will credit $150 to my account within 10 days of receiving my $100 deposit. Sounded like a good idea. I went online and applied using the promotional code. I was able to set up a user name and password for online banking and enter my mobile number for text alerts. In addition, I entered my debit card information to transfer $50 to open my new checking and savings accounts. The $50 was deducted from my current checking acct right away. However, when I submitted my application, I received a message that read:

Next Steps

We'll need approximately two business days to process your application. If you are approved, you can log on to Chase.com using the User ID and Password you created earlier during the application process and access your new account(s) on the "My Accounts" page. Note: You may not be able to see your new account online until we've received the opening deposit funds; this will usually take between one and five business days after your application is approved depending on the method you used to fund your new account.

Right after reading this message, I rec'd a text from Chase confirming my ability to receive text alerts, AND a couple of welcome E-mails from Chase with additional directions to log on to my online account to read the new documents that were ready for my review.

I went to chase.com and was able to log on. In fact, I've already been assigned account numbers.

I'm a little bit confused. Why would I receive a message from Chase that it will take approx 2 business days to process my application when I am already able to log on and access the accts? The only thing is, the $25 deposit for each of my new accts have not posted yet. I'm concerned because I was reported to Chexsystem about 2 years ago by US Bank. I just need to know if you this means I've been approved for accts, or if ALL applicants are able to log on regardless of the final decision???

It means they will process your application within 2 business days, it doesn't rule out instant approval and it doesn't mean your account won't be approved or denied at exactly 48 hours from the time of the message.  It's just a disclaimer and courtesy to you that they let you know they may possibly take 2 days to approve/deny you.

I have direct deposit, so I won't have to worry about the monthly fees.   Smiley Wink
