I'm having the weirdest things happening to me lately... Nonetheless, received a letter from a "Debt Free" company today letting me know that I'm being sued by a Collection Agency (Pinnacle Credit Services, LLC), and they can assist me in the matter. At first I thought it was scam until I checked out my state judiciary site and saw that there is indeed a case against me. First and foremost I have no idea what the case is about. Pinnacle is not listed on my credit reports (eq, ex & trans), nor have I received anything in the mail nor a phone call. I have one baddie that I'm currently working to get off (which is BMG). The court documents I saw online have my correct name but my old home address (from a year ago). --- I'm unsure what to do! Do I contact this Pinnacle agency or should I show up in court with my credit report or what?
I have absolutely no clue what to do here, nor what's this all about!
Please help!
They don't need to be listed on your report to collect/sue.
Does it let you see any other information online......such as who they are suing for(who the OC is)?
You don't want to end up with a default judgment, that is for sure.
You don't want to show up in court and not know what is going on.
Is there a court date listed?
If you contact the courts and update your address, I am sure you will be served. Not suggesting you basically serve yourself, as I am not sure how I would handle this myself.
Can you think of anything this could be about?

If the dollar amount is substantial then I would suggest talking to a lawyer in your locality ASAP.
Thanks!
I just checked the case information online again and it doesn't say what or who it's for. Just Pinnacle Credit Services, LLC is listed as the Plantiff.
There's a court date set for July 14th. It shows that a notice of initial trial was sent to my old address on 4/01 and then the next line shows it was received 4/10. Which isn't true cause I haven't received anything (again, I've been at a new address for over a year now). Again, at a loss here... Should I contact this American Debt Free Association place that sent me a letter today letting me know about this matter (interestingly enough they have my correct address) and let them handle this or do I contact the court house or Pinnacle?
The debt is for $875.71.
If this turns out to be something legit, could you PIF to avoid a judgment?
If so, I would contact the courts and get served, so you know what is going on. This is what I would do.
I'll take your advice and contact the court house tomorrow and get the address situation cleared up. And if in fact it's a legit collection I will PIF as not to have a judgement against me. They'll definitely have to prove to me what this is all about though (not to sound like a broken record), cause again I have no clue and have not received a single thing about this!
Thank you for taking the time and assisting me! I really do appreciate it!![]()
If this turns out to be legit and you want to try and settle before court, get it in writing! I can not stress this enough, get all agreements in writing and follow through and make sure the case is dropped.
Make sure the agreement says the account is/will be considered paid in full and the case will be dismissed and no judgment sought.
