This particular NJ number been calling me and my first time to answer the call today. My mistake was I confirmed the address and details. When I checked my CR’s, there’s no Collections. How will this affect my credit? I am so F pissed off at that bootcamp. No letters was sent to me or whatever and I knew Im still paying for a $5 fee every month on it. I’m building a credit .Help!!!

Re: Collection Agency called me but nothing in my credit report.

I'm a bit lost here.  Can you provide some more information?  What is bootcamp fitness and how does it work? It sounds like a gym membership.  Were you supposed to pay a bill and never did?  What was the amount, was it supposed to be paid all at once, over time, or what?  Did you just ignore the bill(s)?  What's the $5/mo?  That's pretty cheap if it's a gym membership.  Are you still in the first year or has that ended?

Once a debt collector makes an initial communication with the consumer, that triggers their requirement to then send dunning notice within 5 days.  If a debt collector is out there, you did not make a mistake by taking their call.  You initiated their requirment to send dunning notice, and also now permits you to send an immediate DV request.

You can send a timely DV once you know that a debt collector has collection authority.

A timely DV imposes an cease collection bar, which remains in effect until they have send validation.

A DV is timely if sent either prior to dunning notice, or within 30 days after they have provided dunning notice.

I would send an immediate DV in order to impose a temp cease collection bar.

Re: Collection Agency called me but nothing in my credit report.

Hello sorry for the confusion @brutalbodyshots yes it’s like a gym membership without a physical or indoor building. We met at designated open areas like fields or parks. I informed them I was moving out of State (which was one of the cancellation policies) I sent them the required paper works(utility bills), and explained my situation but they rejected it because they’re not in my name. Anyways, they offered me to freeze my account with them with a $5 freezing fee instead of the Camp fee which is $60 every month and I was not aware that my credit card company rejected the payment twice, I always PIF and don’t check the bill unless it’s unusual balance ( my mistake on my part). But to send my account in collections for $10 and the company did not even try to send me any form of communication. I could not believe that! For $10 they want to F my credit. I only attended for 2 months and had paid 3 months in total. Do I really owe somebody a money if I let them know that I cannot receive the service they offer anymore due to location? And this Company advertise that it is founded with Christian Values. I am thinking of writing to their CEO’s really.

Hello @RobertEG

How do I request for DV? Are there specific steps to follow?
