Collection Question

I have finally managed to get someone to agree to delete my collection

. He instructs me to first pay the amount, then he will have it deleted. I have his name and extension, and have requested for him to email me that he will have this account deleted as soon as he receives receipt of payment. He states that he cannot mail the letter to the credit bureaus until they receive payment.

Should I pay?? Do I need any additional info?

You want this in writing on company letterhead-

I'd like to add to Timothy's comment, you want it PRIOR to paying them.
