Collection account

I have a collection that has been open since 1999 from American Agencies, I also had a BK that same year and my phone bill was included in it. they say it isn't and they keep updating it on my credit report, I don't know what to do I have faxed them the paper work and they say they had their bankruptcy specialist go over it and it wasn't included but sure enough it says pacific bell on it.  They call my house and leave messages and then when I try and talk to them about it they just update it.

Have you filed a dispute with the credit bureau and sent them a copy (not the original) of your bankruptcy papers. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act that is not allowed. If that was included in the bankruptcy then they need to up date that according and the Collection company is breaking the law by trying to pursue the dept. Did you File Chapter 7 or 13

If this is from 1999 and it was delinqeunt before todays date in 1999 (which it would have to be to be in collections in 1999 more than likely) dispute that it should have been removed based on the date of delinquency.
