Collections Question

Okay, so I have a collections against me. It's about $1500. Anyway, I called the original company and they were willing to do a deal and so I went with them. Then I brought up the credit reporting and they said it would show that it's been paid. Anyway, my whole question is... since I did it through the original company and they said I would not have to deal with the collections agency, shouldn't that mean that it should just stop reporting to the credit? Can I petition to get it off? What should I do? It took my my credit score down almost 100 pts.

Re: Collections Question

While the ball is in your court, take advantage of it by sending a PFD letter for the settlement amount CMRRR to the OC.

Once they respond in writing that they will delete/not report their own info and will cease all collection activity and reporting... you can then pay them and wait for the CA and OC deletions.

Anything not in writing you can assume will not be upheld.
