Credit Freeze question

After thinking about it longgg and hard and wanting to repair my credit history... I wanted to stop stuff adding to Experian which seem to be most used credit check here in Cali. I got over 36 INQ but 14 are from Auto  but falling off in July 14-17... anyways

I did the freeze on EX website... so wondering when it will take effect.. if it instant cause I pulled soft and it dont show locked but have read some people are still able to pull with current signed up pull sites... so that might be or not.

Other question... I got some TL that havent reported on my CR yet like my NFCU CCx2, navChek, and NFCU auto loan... they shouldnt have problem adding TL correct? probally stupid question.

I'm hoping to have EX score improved alot in the next 6month (atleast) to 12month. Want to be able to get that darn AMEX (green and other good AMEX). I got USAA AMEX 5k Smiley Wink
this mostly cause AMEX said I got tooooo many INQ, to new account, and delq within 2year (CO 5/2006 so now it over 2year)

Uh....  pretty sure they will have a problem.  That's the point of being able to put a fraud alert on your CR, so you don't get slapped with new accounts that are opened as a result of fraud.  I'm assuming by freezing, you mean you put a fraud alert on the CRA?

Second of all, you're using this in completely the wrong manner.  If you have no reason to suspect fraud, why freeze your account?  If you've been applying for new accounts, then that info should be on your CR.  Take responsibility for your actions.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.

Why not just chill with respect for your credit for a while and let some inquiries drop off...  If you "froze" your CR, I'm pretty sure lendors won't be able to view it either, so it's not doing you any good.

Re: Credit Freeze question

I froze DH's reports back in January.  Any accounts that you have a current relationship with will still post to the reports.  We just had Citgo pop up as a new account last month and some other accounts have had activity.

The thing that won't happen is that when you apply for credit - they won't be able to pull whichever report was frozen.  A lot of people on this board and Credit Boards have Experian frozen because of issues with that agency.

Most times the company you apply for credit will tell you that they are unable to access your file and somethimes they will pull an alternative, or you can recon.

Also, a lot of people (on CB) have had better luck at credit repair on the Experian file by having the Experian froze.  YMMV---------

Oh, I think that it took us 30 days for the Freeze to take effect.

Re: Credit Freeze question

I can totally understand why you would want to put ex on ice! I'm from CT and everyone pulls ex here too! From what I understand is that when you freeze a cra future pullers will have to pull from another cra when you app. You can still soft pull on certain sites like cck and such. I may be freezing my ex very soon

Re: Credit Freeze question

If you have a credit freeze on your CR, you can lift or "thaw" it temporarily (usually at least 3 days) or for a specific potential creditor.  Some states charge you to do a thaw; in other states it is free.

I have freezes on all 3 of my CRs.  It's a pain because I have to thaw wheneverI want to get my own report, whether it's via annualcreditreport.com, ScoreWatch, SuzeQ, etc.  OTOH, with any luck it would thwart someone from trying to open new credit in my name.  It does not stop current creditors from updating your TLs.

Re: Credit Freeze question

I was trying to get a loan for my emergency leave and called the company I use a lot. I told her I had a freeze at the CRA so they would not be able to get a CR. She told me, "That's ok, we go in a different way". Sure enough, I have an inquiry from them.

Re: Credit Freeze question

I understood that he was asking if his new accounts would post alright.  I could be wrong, though.

It sounds to me like you have enough new credit, if those are indeed just your new accounts you listed.  And you should probably forget about freezing it and just lay low for a while.  All those new accounts posting will look worse than the inquiries that are only listed on one CR.
