Credit Inquires removed from Credit Report

How long does it take for credit inquires to be removed from credit report? I have had 8 inquires from January 9 to March 17th of this year. I have not had an inquiry made since then.

From what I've learned here I believe the hard inquiries remain on your CR for two years but have no effect on your score after one year. Soft inquries can only be seen by you and have no effect on your score.

I'm SURE I'll be corrected (gently) if I'm wrong.
