Credit Karma scoring sucks!

As we all know, CK scoring model sucks! It is completely wrong! Today, I updated my report and had 5 late payments removed, decreased my utilization by 15% and my score DROPPED 57 pts! My CK score sits at 480 and 512...That makes no sense to me! Although their scoring sucks, they do keep you updated on credit report changes, but that's it! I would be devastated if those were true FICO scores.

Yeap. Typical CK. I don't even play attention to the scores anymore. VantageScore is whacky. CK is good for checking credit reports only.

But if it makes you feel any better, since last weeks update, I've had 3 collection accounts removed, decreased balanced on 2 accounts, opened a new account and had one INQ and my EQ score went down 50 pts. Smiley Very Happy

+1! Only good for the reports only.

CK's scores are not wrong.  Your understanding of them is wrong.  CK provides TU and EQ VantageScore 3.0.  Those scores are not intended to mimic a FICO model.

You cannot use a score generated by one model to determine a score generated by another model whether you're comparing FAKO to FICO, FICO to FICO or FAKO to FAKO.  Different models evaluate report data differently and can even have different score ranges.

If you want to know, for example, what your TU FICO 8 is then you need to pull that specific score.  You can't use an EQ FICO 8.  You can't use an EX FICO 8 Bankcard.  You can't use any model/CRA other than the one you specifically want to see.

It makes no sense because you're overlooking bigger negative changes than the postiive changes you've mentioned.  What else changed?  Scores don't just randomly change.  Any score is generated based on the data in a report.

That said, unless you have creditors that use a TU or EQ VantageScore 3.0 or intend to apply with one then why are you referrring to them?  The scoring model & CRA that matters is the one that a creditor uses in the creditor's decision.
