Credit Line Increase

If I request a credit line increase will the credit card company make a hard inquiry on my credit report? How will this affect my credit report? Thanks!

Which companies? Some do a soft inq, others do a hard!!!

I was thinking about trying to get an increase from Mervyns.

Call them and ask for a CLI, but only if they don't do a hard pull.

Mervyns tends to give low CLs anyway, and a CLI isn't really worth a hard inq with them.
