Wish I could give you some sound advice but I only know basic stuff myself.
If your report said that you have too many new accounts, maybe it'd be better for you to try and get CLI's on the 4 starter cards you have (assuming you can attempt it without getting hard inquiries made).
Maybe app'ing for another AmEx could work too if it'd be done within the window period where they consider multiple inquiries as one.
Hopefully someone else'll chime in.

If your report said that you have too many new accounts, maybe it'd be better for you to try and get CLI's on the 4 starter cards you have I have tried getting CLI's on all my starter cards, even with a perfect payment history and 0 balances on them every month, I do use them but PIF with the exception of one every month leaving a small balance on the one for util purposes. Cap1 especially flat out denies every time, they do not do customer initiated CLI's, the same with HSBC and GEMB.(assuming you can attempt it without getting hard inquiries made).
Maybe app'ing for another AmEx could work too if it'd be done within the window period where they consider multiple inquiries as one. I think this only applies to rate shopping, not CC's, so even if I apped for 3 AmEx cards the same day I'd still get 3 hards, but the good thing about AmEx is that I could have the card backdated to 91 so it wouldn't list as a new acct and they only pull from EX.
Hopefully someone else'll chime in.
Thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it, I see you have an AWESOME EX score, thats what I'm shooting for!!
Thanks again and have a great weekend.

I could have never achieved this without you guys/gals, I know its not the best score, but coming from a 583 November last year, not too bad if I say so myself. A lot of hard work and opening some new accounts, paying ALL of them on time (actually early every month) and getting my util low. Thank you sooooo much!!!! My payment history would be Excellent if it wasn't for the inaccurate Charge Off listing on my report from 5 years ago
I hope posting this pic is OK, I couldn't figure out how to get it to NOT link to Imageshack. Actually I figured it out woo hoo!!
Had an Inquiry fall off EQ today....EQ has always been my "Red headed stepchild" and now I finally get to see a 700 for my EQ score!!!!! YAY!!
I'm inspired by your success. Congratulation!

Thank you very much, from the looks of your scores, you're not very far behind.
Keep doing what you're doing and you'll reach your goal of 777 before you know it.
I wish you the Best of Luck!!!
And most of all, pay attention to what the more experienced members here have to say, they know their stuff, without them and the MyFico Forum, I would not know half of what I know today.....and I learn something new just about everytime I log in to MyFico.
Sorry to drag up an old post, I just wanted to share, that raising your scores and building good credit can be done, and in some cases it does not take years. And it wasn't very long after I started this thread that HSBC CO was removed from my reports, raising my scores quite a bit, my TU 727 went to 784 and my EQ went from 700 to 777 literally overnight.
I want to wish the best of luck to all of you who are going thru the same thing I went thru, the same success I have had.
Keep on Keeping on, and do NOT give up!!
WOW! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION
Mustang --- you are our hero!
Can you tell me what 4 starter cards you got and when you first got them. I see that you only went up 27 points from 583 to 610 from March to November (8 long months), but then, from November of last year to November of this year --- up UP UP --- showing us all that, by this time next year, many of us should have GREAT scores
Your story is the perfect example for those of us who feel like this credit rebuilding game is comparable to watching paint dry. Slow and steady conquers this goal. Yet, MUCH can be done in one year's time.
Thank you again for keeping me encouraged, it helps more than you know.
All I can say is congratulations on all of your hard work. I agree everyday I come to this site I learn something new and see many inspiring stories like yours. Keep up the good work.

My first four starter cards........
6/10 Cap1 300 CL Credit Steps Program, after my third statement bumped to 500 (where it still sits today)
9/10 Cap1 500 CL Credit Steps Program, after my 6th statement bumped to 750 (where it still sits today) Both Cap1 cards will be closed before the AF hits next year if Cap1 does not show me some luv.
12/10 HSBC Discover 400 CL (where it still sits today) I will be closing this card in one week.
12/10 GEMB PayPal Smart Connect 500 CL>>625CL>>2150 CL now.
Thank you all for your responses, I'm just glad that I can be an inspiration to you, I have said before, if my story can inspire just one person here at MYFico, that makes every single word I type worth every single second I'm here.
You guys/gals just keep on keeping on, and you WILL achieve your goals as I have.
Thank you again for the kind words.
