Credit drop after acount paid off

I had an outstanding balance, and paid the account off at the end of last month.  A few days ago my score droped 25 points due to late payment on this account. I guess my question is, when will the account be updated, and will my score at least go back to what it was?

Was this a delinquent account that you just PIF?

Was it a open, current account that you paid the outstanding balance on, but was late in doing so?
