Thank you for the replies, it was interesting to see that others have the same reactions to watching their scores changing as they react to new balances posting and such. I may take a month and try to pay everything in time to have nearly all zeros. I've never done that, so it will be an interesting experiment.

I realize that what others do doesn't determine what I will do. I just wondered if anyone else had the same reaction as mine when they signed up for credit monitoring. Up until very recently, I was blissfully unaware of how much my score could (and does) fluctuate from day to day depending on the updates from the ccc's. This informal poll was more of "am I alone in this" and "what do you do" rather than an actual "what should I do".
Frankly, upon reflection, while I do have a fair amount of curiosity about how allowing various balance levels to post will alter scores, I'm not in a position where I feel the need to cultivate the highest score possible. I don't plan on applying for anything in the near future, and my scores (as they are with just allowing balances to post willy-nilly) are sufficient and shouldn't be an issue if a credit-worthiness situation should arise.
some keep Util optimized in case a great sign-up bonus shows up or a limit craze or something. I'm getting pretty good at planning(drop to perfect Util before i need to app) so i pretty much use all my cards (and pay a few early) and Prism lets my know AFTER my statement cuts so my scores are 10-15 points lower during gardening... ehh, not a huge deal and free's up some brain to keep doing whatever i'm doing in life.
I was really obsessed until i truly learned the pay portals and when everything cut, etc. I still am (like most here) but now... not as much.
I figure there is no right or wrong way to pay my bills on time :]
