I have tried to get my credit report through annualcreditreport.com and other online ways. I get a reply that my CR is unavailable. I must send written requests to the 3 agencies with proof of my identity. Why would this happen? I was working overseas for about 8 years. I never requested a "freeze" on my CRs because I didn't know about it. I don't understand, and I'm worried about fraud, previous violation of privacy by others, etc.
