I have two small issues on my report. I had one account with one 30 day late several years ago. This was inaccurate, and the creditor eventually corrected the entry so that the monthly payment blocks are now accurate and showed all paid as agreed, but there still exists a comment in the comment section which says, "paid, was 30 days late in July 2007". The second account had two 30 day lates over 24 months ago, which have both now fallen off of the monthly reporting blocks, but once again, the comments section still states "was 30 days late in May 2007, and July 1007. Is there any way to get these comments removed, one of which was inaccurate, and one of which was accurate, but is no longer reflected in the prior 24 month reporting blocks. My credit is otherwise perfect.
Thank you,
Chas
Contact the company that is reporting the inaccurate late. They were helpful to you before, so I would guess they would be easy to work with again in fixing their error. If not, you can always dispute it with the CRAs directly, but if it is a closed account that is actually helping your score there is always the possibility that they would delete the account from your report completely thus hurting you. If it's open still, this shouldn't be a problem.
Regarding the lates that are accurate, all you can do is ask for GW from the lender. Send letters or e-mails, explain the circumstances, and ask if they'd be so kind as to remove the lates from your otherwise good history.
The payment history blocks in your CR usually only span a period of 24-months, and can all be green, even tough an older 30-day late was reported.
They do not necessarily reflect your entire credit file history.
I woould first directly contact the OC and ask, from their internal records, what they are reporting regarding these older derogs.
If they agreed to delete the one 30-day late, ask them, in their reporting to the CRA, to ensure this deletion is made to all pertinent field codes. It looks a simple OC coding error.
The payment history is usually shows for only 24 months. On MYFICO credit report the recent payment is history is the 24 month payment grid and above that is a section entitled the Seven year payment history. Does on either of those trade lines show a 1 in 30 days late row of that section. If so that is where the comment is coming from. In order ofr this to stopping reporting that count needs to be zero. If you where never 30 days late on the account the creditor needs to correct how the account is being reported.
