Credit scored dropped 23 points!

from last month to this month and I don't know how!!!  last month, Equifax was 682 and when I checked it today, it's a 659!!  IDK what happened!

Nothing changed for me from last month to this month except my auto loan was completely paid off where it was reporting a 7k balance last month and a 0 balance this month!

I've been making all payments on time, paying more than the minimum, no new inquiries & no collections or anything reporting!  I'm kinda freaking out Smiley Surprised & I'm hoping someone can shed some light!

TU via WM CC is 694.

Hi there,

Sorry for the score drop.. Is this the Equifax score from MyFico? Also, do you have any other Installment Loans besides your auto loan that was paid off? If it is the EQ FICO score from this site, could it be that the model was changed to FICO 08 from the FICO 04?

If no other installment loans - well, that could be the reason as the Credit Mix is a factor that could impact your score.

Yes, the Equifax #'s are from MyFico.com.  Only other installment loan (i think it's considered installment) is my student loans which have been reporting for a while now and payments are current.  The only change in my credit file from my end was the paid off auto loan.  All other balances on cc's are either 1) paid down from the montly payments or 2) zeroed out.

That is really interesting Cassie. Sorry I don't have a specific answer. Did you purchase a new report, or is this from the ScoreWatch update?  I am sure someone who udnerstands myFico products a little better can chime in too.

1.  Scoring models have changed recently.  If this applies to you, your score can go up or down.

2.  Sometimes paying off an installment loan hurts your scores a bit; there are lots of reports to this effect around here.
