CreditCheckTotal: Split files?

Hi - I'm new here and I have a question about CreditCheckTotal: It's my understanding that they "monitor" your reports daily for changes. In order to do that, I assume they would have to do a soft pull from each CRA. That's a lot of soft pulls.

Are any of you familar with too many soft pulls resulting in a split file? As I understand it, files may become split when there are "too many" soft pulls over a given time frame. I have no idea what "too many" is, but it's likely a fairly high number. I've read that a split file does not happen with Experian but can and does happen at times with TransUnion and Equifax--especially Equifax.

Since CreditCheckTotal has to do daily soft pulls, I'm concerned about this.

Any opinions ? Thanks.

That's been fixed, and FWIW a single daily puller I don't think would've triggered it even previously.

Re: CreditCheckTotal: Split files?

Same as above poster, it doesnt work anymore/doesnt happen from that anymore.

I know finding newer info on that is hard out there!  I couldnt find anything concrete so I signed up for some monitoring services, 3 months later.  No change to anything. (Multiple daily pulls)

+1

As someone who was 'plagued' with a split EQ file off and on for years, I can personally say it seems they finally got the problem resolved.

The last time I had an issue was around 2006 or so.  I called their customer service number, and a very surly rep told me my file was split due to having too many accounts and inquiries, which there were many of both, and that nothing could be done.  I had 'tons' of SPs since I had lost my job, and practically every creditor at the time was doing an SP because I was delinquent.

As this had already happened and been corrected before, I politely told the Equifax CSR that their database constraint was not my problem (although clearly it was my concern), and I asked for my issue to be escalated and for a case number.  It's not my nature to be so direct, but the CSR's demeanor left me no choice in this instance.  About a week later, I got a snail-mail copy of my new, merged credit file, inquires and all.

This was nearly 10 years ago, and I've not had an issue sinceSmiley Wink
