Good question...does anyone else know where we can buy the TU score version that Wal-Mart gives to card holders?
You can't =/.
If you really want the score, get the card. I don't understand why everyone is so terrified of inquiries, the only time you really need to worry about them is in the six to twelve months leading up to a big ticket item. This forum really does do people a disservice on that count, nearly as much as FICO and the CRA's do with the opacity of FICO scores.
Cory: unfortunately any resemblance of the CK scores with your real ones is purely coincidental.
I plan on getting small car loan at the end beginning of August. Im not sure if all of these dings hurt in regards to the interest rate
Yar, so get the car first, then go open up the card if you want access to the score. It's pretty immaterial now anyway, as knowing your usual FICO means, well, not much, when it comes to auto lending assuming they pull the Auto-Enhanced industry option.

Im opening an NFCU account this morning, getting the CC in Late july and probably an auto loan from them in mid August. Do they most likely use that method of credit scoring?

For the CC no, for the auto loan perhaps... CU's don't always, though NFCU is I believe the largest of all so if any CU does, it stands to reason they would most likely.
It's their choice regardless and there's nothing you can do about it honestly. Also, NFCU doesn't pull TU at all so knowing that score is even more irrelevant at the moment Edit: was wrong about this last part.

This is actually not true, they pull TU for my friend on all of his request. Memebership, LOC, cash rewards card and also Platinum card.
Also the TU fico that you get from walmart is not a fico many lenders are using currently. Walmart itself does not use the TU fico it gives out which is called tu 08 or tu 8, i forget. Many lenders actually use TU 04 and some still use TU98 which you can obtain from here. YMMV

Learn something new every day, I had thought they were EQ only, thank you for the clarification.

My CK score always sits right around 45-55 points below my actual TU FICO....... FWIW
