Creditor calling re husband

I have a creditor calling about an account for my husband.  I am not sure how he found out my name...but now when he leaves messages he asks for "husband name" and Micaela.

Husband won't give me any information.  I told him to give me info & I will help out.  I was pretty sure he wouldn't and still hasn't.  What can I do?  Creditor would need my SSN to put it on my credit, right?  Whatever "it" is.

Re: Creditor calling re husband

Are a AU or some other type of joint account (mortgage) with him on your credit report.  If so you would also show up on his as well and thus they would have your name.  What about you phone.  Does the caller ID show his name or your name.

Re: Creditor calling re husband

I don't have ANYTHING joint with him.  The phone is in my name.  I believe it's "Texas Law" that I am liable for his crud, too.  They are trying to get me to pay for his stuff.  I just want to make sure they can't put anything on my credit report especially since they shouldn't have my SSN.

Re: Creditor calling re husband

If your account was not joint and you weren't an AU, then there's no way it will report on you.

They're probably just trying to increase the likelihood of getting a valid contact to collect, i.e. wife.
