Debt Settlement Programs

Hi, my wife and I just recently enetered a DSP...JAN 10th...
We were never late on our payments but we felt we would never get above water if we did not do something...A little background here....

Our total debts (Credit Cards) total approx $150K...yes...I know its bad...
we have only been involved for a few months and we just started getting the harrassing calls of "we will sue you"....Our Negotiator at the DS company is telling us that it is a common tactic and not to worry because we have nly been onvolved for about 3 months....is this correct?  I am really not worried about anything other than my home....as long as no one can take my home away then I can deal with the rest of the fallout as this IS my situation and ultimately my fault for getting in so deep on debt.  I'm just looking for any other folks who may be going thru this too....maybe we can exchange some ideas...stories and help each other thru this troubling time....anyways...thanks for listening.

Re: Debt Settlement Programs

I am curious which company you elected to go with for this program.

I suggest you get the name of the CA calling and send them a letter.
OC can hassle you, but they won't do it for long and it will go to CA

Don't send any Cease and Decist letters.  Instead, narrow the communications to writing only.  CMRRR

Something like the following:

I am advising you that it is inappropriate to contact me or my wife at our places of employment and doing so would cause direct, irreparable harm.  If you have attempted to contact one of us at our place of employment, I request that you provide documentation as to when and whom you spoke with.

I further direct you to cease such activities and to contact the following company, who is handing the financial matter you have requested information about: ACMECO at 888-XXX-XXX ext 1234.

You are welcome to copy us on any correspondance you have with this company, however please restict all communications with me or my wife to written correspondance only.

Re: Debt Settlement Programs

When you say Debt SETTLEMENT, is this a company you work with to try to arrange a limited payout to your creditors...
