1) Check at the court house in the county where the property was. Make sure that a satisfaction was filed. Get a copy.If it was not contact Wells Fargo and ask them for a satisfaction. Explain that you re-financed it. Go in person to a branch and have the manager tell you exactly who to contact. Then contact them by phone, fax or in writing, whichever he recommends-all 3 wouldn't hurt. When you have it walk it to the courthouse and file it. There will be a nominal fee. Once you have the satisfaction in filed, I would send a copy to Wells Fargo and all 3 bureaus asking them to remove this from your credit report once and for all. If they screw you again go visit the local office of your Federal Attorney and file a complaint. If you are in a state where you can join a pre-paid legal plan, you might consider doing so in order to get an attorney after them. If not make some calls and see if anyone will take your case on contingency. There should be some damages due you if this was really paid off and they put it back on 5 times. I think that is way past the GW stage.
