Discover Repo / Foreclosure

When I first signed on to myfico, I was in the process of paying down a Discover balance over the course of 10 months. At the time, it was not showing the monthly payments I was making to them anywhere on the report; that the account was past due over 120 days. I filed a dispute, stating that my payments were being made on time. Since filing the dispute, it is now reported as a Repo / Forclosure under my accounts, even though effective this past Monday, they are paid off in full. Smiley Happy

How can I ensure this gets corrected?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Discover Repo / Foreclosure

Were you set up on a payment modification plan with them to lower interest, payments, etc.? Is the account still open?

Re: Discover Repo / Foreclosure

The account is closed. I was behind during the period up to the the payment plan, and the result was 10 monthly payments. (I was unemployed before setting things up, then was able to pay it off over 10 months since it aligned with my becoming employed).

In fact, I just called them yesterday becasue they sent me a "past due" notice for 2 cents, which I was informed during a call it would be removed.

Re: Discover Repo / Foreclosure

Unfortunately, most credit card companies will mark you late when under a repayment plan even if you paid 100% on time during that plan. The rationale is that you are paying less per the terms of the org. agreement and therefore the lates pile on up to the point you get caught up. Now if they indicated a willingness to remove the lates then that's certainly a step in the right direction. Whenever possible, try to commit them to providing a written mention that they'll remove the lates. I'd wait it out 30-45 days after they promised to remove the lates, recheck each credit report, and then write them via a GW letter.

The "R/F" mention on your CR is actually a glitch. I believe they are working on it, but there's no impact on your score. There are a couple of recent posts that said the same. I remember this happened to me about 3 years ago. I had at least one TL with a 120 day late and one day it got changed to "R/F". I didn't panic because I knew a CC couldn't be foreclosed on but IIRC it was explained to me that it was a glitch with the way the reports look. If you pull your report directly from the CRA (e.g. annualcreditreport.com), you won't see any mention of a repo/foreclosure on that CC.
