Dispute results question

Quick Question,

I searched these forms and could not find what I was looking for.

I submitted a dispute to Experian about a medical collection on my report. Both EX and EQ had the collection on my report however TU did not. After the dispute came back removed from Experian, Equifax no longer showed the collection.

Is possible that Equifax removed the collection based on Experian removing the collection?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Dispute results question

I don't think that the CRAs generally share information with each other ~ I would assume that the CA just deleted it from the other CRA.

Re: Dispute results question

It really depends on how the dispute was resolved by EX.

When you disputed, the CRA was required to have provided your dispute to the furnisher of the disputed information, which in this case was the debt collector.

After investigatin, the furnisher was required to report their results back to the CRA.  If their investigation found the information to either be inaccurate or unverifiable, and their deletion back with the CRA handling the dispute was due to such a finding, it was not sufficient for them to report only to the CRA handling the dispute.

Under FCRA 623(b)(1)(D), they were additionally required to report those results to all other CRAs to which the information had previously been reported.  So, no, the CRAs dont notify each other.  That responsibility resides with the creditor/debt collector who reported the disputed information.  Did you receive any notice of results of the dispute from the CRA?  Was deletion clearly based on the resolution of the dispute?  If so, contact the debt collector and remind them of their responsibility under section 623(b)(1)(D).

Time for them to have done such reporting is set by section 623(b)(2) as being the same period they were requried to report their results of investigation back to the CRA handling your dispute.

Re: Dispute results question

Thanks for the information,

I did receive a email notification and letter via mail stating that both collections had been deleted by Experian. Both medical collections state that they have been deleted from my credit report.
