Disputed Purchase appearing on CR?

Bank of America has my account listed as "Account in Dispute" over a purchase dispute with a merchant. Is this normal? I was always under the impression that AID is strictly for disputing the account. Is there a CR dept that handles disputes? Thanks for any help.

Did you dispute the merchant charge directly with BoA ?

When I had a fraudulent charge posted on one of my accounts, it also came up as that. It's accurate. You are essentially disputing the amount you owe, which is de facto disputing the account. When it's resolved, the notation will disappear.

Citi did this to me and the update was "Dispute resolved - customer disagrees".  Definitely new too me.... never thought a disputed charge would constitute a dispute to the CRAs.
