Disputed account

Hi- I have two disputed accounts on my credit report. They were from 4 years ago. My credit was not great at all 4 years ago. Since that time I have been building my rating up from below 620 to 737. I am buying a home and was just informed these two disputes need to be removed. I didn't realize I had these until now, I thought they were resloved. Well now that it is being done- will this harm my FICO. I don't want to drop below 720. My Fico report shows these- but no negitive history, if the disputes are removed will it hurt my overall FICO?

Re: Disputed account

Hi and welcome to the forums.

It could, yes.

If they are OC accounts, certain aspects of the TL are removed from scoring during a dispute.  Your score could drop or go up depending on what the outcome is.

Does it say anywhere the dispute was resolved?

Re: Disputed account

Thanks- one of the accounts does show FCRA Dispt Closed by Consumer on my credit report. The other does not- both accounts were for late payments. One was for 30-days which I did not feel was correct and the other was for 60-days late. Again there were years ago. How much of a drop would I expect?

Re: Disputed account

One other thing to add- both accounts were paid and closed. I paid both off- one I paid when they reported the late and refused to remove it. I paid the balance and closed the account. The other account- I did not pay off right away so I had a strong history of paying on-time after the 60-day late until it was paid off. It was a year afterwards.

Re: Disputed account

Since it was so long ago, it will be hard to say.  Normally, if the disputes are removed within days your score would go back to what it was.

When it was paid doesn't mean anything unless they kept reporting late payments.  If those are not now factored into your report they could be when the comment is removed.

30 and 60 day lates normally do not impact your score for more than 2 years.  But if there is a long string of them they could.
